Super Angry  Hey there BridgeGirl,

Just read your post....What do you mean you DON'T want a disco night???  Oh boy, are you in need of some super powers nows baby.  Start Packin is right....LOL.

We are going to have so much fun, I can hardly wait.  Just like old times....remember when we first met, when we would look across the room and see eachother.  10 years later and nobody else can take my breath away but you.

Ok, whoops, yes I am calling Olivia in the morning to see if I can get any info. regarding the theme parties.  Everything sounds like fun and looking forward to meeting new great friends too.

hey This isn't our first cruise, but it is our first all (WOMEN) cruise. We also would really like to know about the mysterious theme parties. My wife (tonkaspirit) not her real name, wants a disco night. (not me). I'm pretty sure you can wear jeans to dinner except for formal night. anyhow if you find out about any functions  we need to bring weird attire to, let us know. Like the other girls said its hard to pack for events we don't know anything about. My wife is going to call in the morning. Did you see the post about wearing funny hats the day we send off. I forget which topic it was under. START PACKING.

Ok so they made liar out of me. Last year they did send an itinerary in the packet. I guess we're on our own to read thier minds about these theme nights. I did contact customer service asking this question and I've posted thier response. I guess it's really not about dressing for the occation, but how much fun we have being free and together. I've decided not the sweat the small stuff and just have fun. Glad to hear the packets are arriving. I'll be on the look out for ours to show up. We just can't wait to get on board and sail off into the sunset.

Rhonda-

We received the packet with luggage tags, etc. and there was no itinerary.  I, too, am curious about things like theme nights.  How will we know what to pack if we don't know what themes there will be?

The actual itinerarys will be posted every day in the mailbox outside your door. It'll tell you everything that's going on that day with times and locations. In addition they announce over the speaker system just before events to remind you that something is going on. When you get your packet that has your luggage tags and such there will be a tenative itinerary in it.

As far as I can tell the the formal night and the white party are the only "theme" nights planned. That's not to say that there wont be a ton of other parties going on. There is so much to do while on board I know you'll stay busy if that's what you want to do. Sometimes there's so much going on it's hard to decide which thing you want to do. I haven't heard anything about a breakfast with Billie Jean. You might want to shoot an email to customer service and they can give you more details.

See in in <25 days.

Thanks everyone for all this good info.  I have one more question - does anyone know when we will receive the 'actual' itinerary of the cruise?  By that, I mean, the day to day activities, and the 'mysterious' theme nights that have been mentioned.  I'm intererested in knowing - will we have one formal night and the white party and that's all?  Also it has been mentioned that there will be a breakfast opportunity with Billie Jean King (my heroine).  Will Olivia publish on their web site?  Appreciate any details!  Thanks, Gibby

PS to Diwax - my gal pal and I are from Seattle - didn't you ask about if there was anyone from the NW?

As someone who's been on another 8-day Alaska HAL -I spent little $$$ except for the shore exclusions which can be costly.Yes  On ship you don't use money-a credit account is established of which you can add money to or just charge it all... The only money is what you buy in the ports... so if you are a shopper than make sure you have a decent credit limit.  All tabs are settled before you depart off the ship usually no later than the night before.

You are correct on the no shorts in the dinning room - but on Olivia cruises I have always seen women in jeans.

Since Olivia charters the entire ship - the dress code - its more casual.

Hi Gibby,

I have cruised on HAL previously and they do not have iPod docking stations. I bring my charger so I still have tunes in the gym or when I am lounging on deck etc. If you have portable speakers for your iPod, bring them. No connectivity for your laptop unless you want to purchase a wifi card from HAL. It is kind of slow and a bit expensive but if you need it for work reason then perhaps it is an option. You can also use the computer center on board.  I believe the concierge level suites have free internet access/time in the computer center. I have used this on occasion since it is free if you are in this category.UsuallyI just check my email at an internet cafe while I am in port. This is MUCH cheaper than the ship rates.

Lastly, I think there is 1 formal night. This is standard for HAL for cruised under 8 days.  I am assuming that Olivia will follow this tradition. I hope so...as I love to play dress up! Lesbians being the individuals we are, you will see the entire spectrum of attire on formal night. A word of caution. If I recall correctly there is no denim in the dining room for dinner EVER . The only exception is the 1st night because you may be waiting for your luggage to be delivered to your stateroom. The no denim policy means no jeans, jean skirts and definetly no shorts. If you are jeans inclined you can always eat at the buffet or room service...I am not 100% sure about this so we may wish to check with HAL or Olivia to confirm.

See you all on board

Hello everyone~!~!

I am a 22 year old straight female going solo, my friend was going to go but she is going to be moving while we are at sea, she thought I would love to go because I am tennis player and Billie is one of my fave~!. I was wondering how much money I should expect to spend on the cruise.

I can't tell you about the IPod stuff, but I can answer about the formal night. Yes they will be having a formal night. So get ready to dress up and have some fun. There are several theme nights such as a white party and pajama bingo. Hope that part helps.

Hi everyone, I just joined this group and I am also a first timer.  My girlfriend wants to know if there are IPod docking stations in the rooms that have dvd players and also if she can use her sprint card in her pc and get connectivity in the rooms.  These might be questons for someone else (maybe Holland America)?  But, if anyone knows the answers, could they please post?  Also, we haven't received our itinerary package yet, so I don't know if there is a  need to 'dress up' for any reason? They don't have a formal night like some of the more traditional cruises, or do they?  Just wondering.  Thanks!  Gibby
