Columbus Isle is one of my special places; you know, the ones where the stress & pressures of the world slip away, where your heart & soul fill with joy and gratitude and you can just relax.
While at Columbus Isle, I often sit and lose myself in the multi-shaded blue-green waters, but I also love snorkeling "The Wreck" & the "Coral Gardens", which are some of the best Club Med snorkeling anywhere.
The club itself is built for a great time, with both land and water sports. Some of my friends spend the day at the pool while others luxuriate at the beach and we meet up mid-afternoon at the gazebo bar/snack bar overlooking the ocean. For the sports and activity inclined, the day can be filled moving from one sport to another until exhaustion sets in.
In the evening, I typically enjoy cocktails and dinner with friends or new acquaintances and of course Olivia's signature entertainment and dancing. Walking to my room under the stars or taking a late-evening swim is always a treat.
The rooms are spacious, and with only 4 rooms to most buildings there is a sense of privacy. I have stayed on both sides of the main complex & enjoyed each location.
Again, I return to Columbus isle each time it is offered because of its ability to reinvigorate my life. Because the club is one of the only things on the island, it doesn't feel like a tourist spot. I have taken a bicycle around the island & enjoyed pristine white beaches all to myself. I've collected beautiful conch shells & other treasures. The people of the island are gentle and seem to have the knack for enjoying life just as it is.
Back home, I often find myself going back in my mind to things I have seen & done at Columbus Isle. While I have been fortunate enough to enjoy many Olivia trips over the years, Columbus Isle is definitely my favorite Club Med and ranks in my top five trips along with the Galapagos, Tahiti, Antarctica, & the Provence river cruise.
