Official Olivia Halloween Contest Rules

No purchase or payment necessary to enter or win.

Photo Eligibility
The contest is open to all legal residents of the United States, Canada and any other country that permits participation in such a promotion, who are twenty-one (21) years or older on date of entry, except employees of Olivia, their affiliates, partners, subsidiaries, franchises, distributors, advertising and promotion agencies, and the immediate families or household members of each. Void in and to residents of the Province of Quebec, and where otherwise prohibited by law, rule, regulation or ordinance. The sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited or restricted by law and regulations.

Photo Format
Entries must be digital images.

Photographer/Copyright
Entries must be submitted by the original photographer. Do not submit a photo taken by someone other than yourself. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.

Number of Entries
An individual may submit up to three photos.

Photo Subject Restrictions
Obscene or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. Olivia retains sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content. For photos containing recognizable people, you must have the subject or subject’s written permission.

Acknowledgement/Return of Photos
Sorry, but due to the expected volume of entries, we cannot acknowledge the receipt of your photo(s). Photos will not be returned.

Ownership/Use Rights
Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. By entering the contest, photographers agree to have their submitted photograph(s) displayed on the Olivia website, in Olivia e-mail or other electronic communications, print communications and partner website and/or electronic or print communications without any fee or other form of compensation, and agree that Olivia may display winning photos in a "winners" or “past winners” photo gallery, and may make and retain copies of the photograph for archival purposes. Entries (including non-winning entries) may be selected for display or use in on the Olivia website, in e-mail or other electronic communications, print communications and partner websites and/or communications without any fee or other form of compensation. In the event that ownership of any photograph submitted to Olivia is contested in any manner, Olivia retains the right to disqualify that photograph and discontinue its use.

How to Enter
Submit your photos by clicking here. Entries must be received by Monday, December 1, 2008, at 5:00PM PST.

Judging
Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and the way in which the contest expresses the Olivia experience. An Olivia panel will judge the entries and all contest decisions are final. Entries that fail to comply with the Official Contest Rules will be disqualified. The Olivia panel will include professionals in online and print design and marketing.

Winners
Judges will select a first place winner and one runner up. If fewer than fifteen eligible photographs are entered, Olivia may choose to name only a first place winner. Winners will be notified approximately 2-3 weeks after the contest deadline by phone or email using the information on the entry form. Along with the winner notification, winners will be given an affidavit of eligibility and release. Winner must execute, without making changes, and return this release for receipt by Olivia within 7 days of the date on the winner notification e-mail. Failure to execute and return this affidavit within 7 days will result in disqualification. First place winner will receive a $500 credit towards a new reservation on one of the following Olivia trips: Caribbean Islands Cruise (March 1-8, 2009); Alaska Glaciers and Bays Cruise (September 20-27, 2009)  or Caribbean Halloween Cruise (October 25-November 1, 2009). The runner up will receive a $250 credit towards a new reservation on one of the following Olivia trips: Caribbean Islands Cruise (March 1-8, 2009); Alaska Glaciers and Bays Cruise (September 20-27, 2009)  or Caribbean Halloween Cruise (October 25-November 1, 2009). Prizes are non-transferable, and must be used by the winner. Prizes imply no cash value. Prize value cannot be applied to an existing reservation or account on this or another Olivia vacation and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers, discounts or credits. Trip must be booked by January 15, 2009. Winner must be 21 years or older at the time of the drawing. Olivia is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, mutilated or otherwise undelivered or misunderstood winner announcements, regardless of other errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical or electronic. Olivia reserves the right to modify or cancel this contest if fraud or technical failures compromise the integrity of the sweepstakes. The original entry constitutes consent to use the prize winner and guest’s names, voices, pictures and/or likenesses without compensation for promotion purposes. By participating, all entrants release Olivia and its subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, employees, directors and agents, including advertising agencies, from any and against any and all liability with regard to the contest and prize and agree that these entities are in no matter responsible for any warranty, representation or guarantee, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relating to the contest, promotion and /or the prize. Olivia reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend all or any portion of this contest without notice if factors beyond Olivia’s control, including technical difficulties, disrupt or corrupt the fair or secure administration or operation of the contest.

Submitting Digital Images

Specifications: Digital images should be submitted using the online entry form. Images should be formatted to 300 dpi, no smaller than 450 by 338 pixels. Panoramic photos are not eligible. Images should be submitted in JPG (at high quality) or TIFF format. File sizes must be less than 5MB  per image. Digital images will not be returned.

Image Modifications:

• Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified
• No borders or frames may be added to images
• No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices may be added to images
• Adding or replacing elements in an image is not permitted
• Artistic filters are not permitted
• Images may be cropped and rotated as necessary as long as the rectangular format is maintained and the size is within the specifications above
• Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio is maintained
• Red-eye removal and spot editing is permitted
• Use of filters to sharpen, soften, blur, despeckle, or remove noise is permitted
• Use of corrective functions to improve the natural appearance of the image, such as levels, contrast, brightness, curves, intensity, tone, hue, saturation, lightness, value, color balance, and tint are permitted
